Seven workers died. The Israeli military also said that a hostage seized during the Hamas Oct. 7 attack likely was killed by an Israeli helicopter gunship. Israel approved the reopening of the Erez crossing into northern Gaza to increase the delivery of aid, and Iran renewed its pledge to punish Israel for killing seven officers in a suspected airstrike on its embassy compound in Syria. Ukraine funds on ice as House Republicans dicker Infighting: Kyiv is running short of munitions to fight Russia, and money that the Senate approved to help Ukraine may be delayed even longer as hardline Republicans push House Speaker Mike Johnson to add border-security provisions and spending cuts to the package. Latest: Russian forces are inching forward in eastern Ukraine. Fighting raged near the town of Chasiv Yar, a Ukrainian stronghold, but Kyiv denied that Moscow's troops reached the suburbs.
